With subtropical Queensland and the South Pacific as his home territory, Stuart Mackenzie has developed a passion for the region and for the colourful characters it has brought into being.
He has an eye for little known places, people and events that add spice to the mundane.
He draws inspiration from close-up contact with local culture - sharing village celebrations in a Gilbertese maneaba, witnessing the triumph and terror of land-diving on Pentecost - and from local history.
His Land and Sea Series is a three-volume suite of historical fiction ranging across this region and through the perilous times that have befallen it.
